Over at Drift – our friends at Bristol’s beautiful online magazine devoted to surfing and the lifestyles around it – they’ve just introduced their very own Music Player! Fantastically for us, they asked for a selection of music released or to be released through Honey Be, so you can now listen to Deltorers, Matt Marr and The Sables while you enjoy the beautiful imagery and great writing, all for free.
You can chose from the whole of the Deltorers debut EP, two tracks from Matt Marr’s forthcoming album Currency of Souls or The Sables limited release Pilgrim Man EP, so please spread the word and spend some time enjoying Drift at the same time!

One of the main reasons Honey Be Records came into existence was to help spread the word about music we’d heard and then loved. There are many, many incredible recordings – labours of love, even – from “local” artists with anything but “local” attitudes to their music and its “listenership”. Beach In The Fallin’ Rain is one of them. When we first heard this deeply personal album written by Matt Marr and recorded along with longtime band mates from The Marlins – Tom Bradford and Paul ‘Dixie’ Harley – it was early 2006.
Since then Matt has released a self-titled solo EP, available here and has his second full-length offering, Currency of Souls, waiting in the wings for an early Spring 2010 release on Honey Be Records. Beach… remains a deeply personal collection of songs, the precursor to his latest output. The themes are those of loss, nostalgia, random weekends in Amsterdam, the fictional mixed with fact enhanced by the melodies and sounds within.

Beach In The Fallin’ Rain is available now from Matt Marr’s Bandcamp site either as a download or for just one more of your Earth pounds the CD AND the download, wheee! You can also listen to the album right now on this very page (look to your right a bit!) If that’s not enough, then mattmarr.co.uk holds the key to a free track from the forthcoming Currency of Souls. You’ll be asked to sign up to Matt’s occasional email newsletter in order to get the track, but you can unsubscribe instantly.
Thanks so much for reading, we hope you’ll love this record as much as we do, please feel free to spread the word far and wide because we’re a tiny voice in a big room! Buy Matt Marr’s Beach In The Fallin’ Rain here…

Just over a week since the Deltorers debut EP was released and we’ve received our first review from Dan Renton’s excellent new project and home of all things rock – Dorset Rock Online! We encourage you to check out this website anyway, as it’s full of news, reviews and gig listings for ROCK gigs in Dorset, but also please take a minute to check out Dan’s review and maybe even leave him a comment, I’m sure it’d be most appreciated.
Onward and upward, the EP is available in digital form from the Deltorers’ Bandcamp page, in physical form at all forthcoming Deltorers gigs – the next is at Champions on Sat 28 Nov: ROCK AND TEASE – and shortly from our very own Honey Be Records Emporium…as soon as I’ve finished it and the badges arrive

The day has finally arrived, we’re so happy to announce our second release on Honey Be Records: Deltorers debut EP, self-titled ‘Deltorers’. You can listen for free and download right now from the Deltorers Bandcamp page! In coming weeks, the EP will also be available from the usual download sites, links to follow when we have them.
The EP comprises five tracks recorded at Planet Sound in Southampton over the summer: Ask For More, Control Your Demons, Dancing, Devil’s Play and Instra hidden away at the end but not to be missed!
We will have a facility to purchase a ‘hard copy’ – by which I mean, of course, a CD – later this week, so hold on til then if you’re a lover of shiny, silver plastic otherwise you can listen and then perhaps download the EP at the link above.
Thanks for all your support – our ‘fans’ on Facebook, gig-goers, people in the street and web – Tone and me really appreciate (and actively encourage) your support as we tramp blindly on through the business of selling records. Cheers!
In the meantime, please go and check out the AMAZING Deltorers EP!

In the coming weeks Honey Be Records will be releasing the debut ep from Deltorers, as well as Matt Marr’s ‘lost classic’ Beach In The Fallin’ Rain. Those releases will be swiftly followed by brand new albums by both Matt Marr and The Sables, neither of which we’re yet to hear, but the ridiculously high level of expectancy we have for both albums is simply born out of what has gone before.
When Matt Marr allowed us to release both his upcoming album Currency Of Souls, as well as Beach In The Fallin’ Rain, our grins quickly became painful. Matt’s earlier work with The Marlins is also some of the most inspired songwriting we’ve heard from this area. No, simply… it is the most inspired, along with what has followed. His writing affects us in a way that only people who truly love music can begin to understand. He observes and lives life with a wonderfully heavy heart and soul. His tales, both fictitious and sometimes uncomfortably real, should be heard by anyone who shares that true love.
Deltorers have, since the first time we saw them live, got to us in an all together different way. Lacking in subtlety, experience, or (to this very day) a set of drumsticks, was on top of something far more important – giving a shit about anything other than their music. If we were teenage girls we’d fancy the Deltorers. There… that’s a confession (of sorts) of our love for these guys. But, we’d be teenage girls who had been brought up on – and loved – their parent’s old Nirvana and Sonic Youth albums, who saw these three scruffy fuckers as one of those bands you’ve loved to have discovered before they were famous. In a town where the average ‘rock’ band is about as real as reality tv, Deltorers buck that trend without trying, and that is their appeal.
Things aren’t quite so simple when it comes to talking about The Sables. Their appeal to the listener is one of discovery, to dive into its depths and drown in its beauty. To seek, to explore, to ultimately lose yourself within the vastness of its colour and emotion. South Southern Angel was an inspiration to us, not only as the final nudge needed to create Honey Be, but creatively (along with the combined talents of the rest of the Sables family) it never stops impressing. Whilst we’re still drowning in its multi-coloured ocean, we’re trying to suppress our expectations for its successor – no easy thing…

With things beginning to hot up in the land of Honey Be, we’re excited to let you know about a Matt Marr gig in Bournemouth on Sunday 27th September. Matt will be playing at Champions live music venue near the Triangle as part of the “Sunday Worship” night which also features Charlie Hole, Tim Berry and Michael Wookey.
This is a top quality line-up with Michael having recently finished his latest album, Tim having just released an amazing collection of songs under his “Oh Dreamland” moniker and Charlie Hole rounding off the line-up superbly.
This is a night not to be missed, please join us – it’s FREE entry as well – and sample some of the songs from Matt’s forthcoming album “Currency of Souls” at first hand. While you’re here, check out mattmarr.co.uk for an extra free download track “The Poets Son” when you sign up to his mailing list.
That’s all for now, keep on checking to find out more about the artists on Honey Be Records. We appreciate your interest, please spread the word because our voice is small and we have something to say. See you at the gig!

Having had a love affair with Matt Marr’s music since long before we grew beards, it’s both a great privilege and incredibly exciting to be able to announce that we are about to release his music on Honey Be Records. His music affects us deeply and is a true reflection of the man himself. It comes from the heart and soul.

In the not too distant future we will be releasing Matt’s superb new album Currency Of Souls. Prior to that, we will be distributing a 2-track album sampler at live performances, as well as at the upcoming Green Man and End Of The Road festivals through the Rough Trade stand. Both tracks can also be found on Matt’s myspace, as well as a third track ‘The Poets Son’ which is available as a free download from his website.
In the coming weeks we will also be releasing his ‘lost classic’ Beach In The Falling Rain. Since reviewing this in 2006 it has disappeared completely, available only to the lucky few who managed to grab a demo. We loved it at the time and feel privileged to unearth it and give it the exposure it truly deserves. We will shortly announce its availability as a download and strictly limited edition cd.

Great excitement here at Honey Be Towers. Nathan and Sam from Deltorers just dropped round the final mixes of the five tracks which will make up their first EP to be released by us in early October this year. The tracks will be ‘Ask For More’, ‘Devil’s Play’, ‘Dancing’, ‘Control Your Demons’ and the live set closer in recent months, ‘Instra’…which is an instrumental, don’t you know?

We’re gonna send two tracks to our “contact” for SXSW in Austin, Texas, those look like they’ll be ‘Ask For More’ and ‘Dancing’…we shall see. So
…in a week’s time I hope we’ll have mastered versions of all tracks, artwork for the EP and some ‘blurb’ explaining who Deltorers are and where they made their sounds…the balls are rolling!

Another summer eve – the longest one, as it happens – and another CD holding the promise of jewels, treasures and assorted joys from Deltorers last recording session in Southampton. Unsure as to the tracklisting, need to decide on two tracks for a CD to be speculatively sent to our kindly contact in Austin, Texas for SXSW craziness…Lustrous Chemistry wades in beautifully with joyous proclamations and general positive vibes. Thanks to Rachael – and Chris – for their ongoing support and enthusiasm, Deltorers are certainly collecting friends and admirers wherever they go – mostly the flat – but Tone and I have a lot of faith and hope after hearing the latest rough mixes of the preferred four tracks almost ready for release. Much talk of logos and cover art ensued…time for post-beer beer and late-night pizza now…this is gonna happen, I feel. Only two weeks until Runway Festival, the more people see Deltorers – and The Sables – now, the better, I really hope we can get this wagon moving…
