It’s now part of the May 2010 Rewind collection available from the One Track Mind website, so in the spirit of sharing please go and download BOTH zip files for a load of great new music!

Matt Marr – local interest for a local hero

The local paper down in sunny Bournemouth – the Bournemouth Echo – has run a piece on Matt in today’s edition.
Matt Marr - Bournemouth Echo article (21 May 2010)
It’s not available online so, using decidedly old skool techniques, it’s recreated here in all it’s glory. Thanks to Nick Churchill for his words, let’s hope Matt can get some notoriety in his hometown after all these years!

About Matt Marr:

Matt was principle songwriter and vocalist in Bournemouth indie rock band, The Marlins throughout the late 90s and early 2000s.

Since initially releasing Beach In The Fallin’ Rain in 2006, Matt has continuously written and recorded new material, culminating in 2008’s Matt Marr EP and the imminent release of Currency Of Souls.  Matt has performed live throughout this period, including supporting Jesse Malin in London in 2008 and Andy Burroughs (ex-Razorlight) this past March, 2010.

Matt Marr‘s first album – Beach In The Fallin’ Rain – was re-released on Honey Be in November 2009, as a prequel to Currency Of Souls and is available exclusively through iTunes.

About Currency of Souls:

Currency of Souls was recorded over the course of 2008 and 2009 along with Adam Chetwood (The Boy Least Likely To) and Adam’s brother, Ben.  The album will be released in April 2010, to be accompanied by a number of live performances from Matt, both in a solo/duo and band format.  Check out national and local music press for details.

Four years ago Matt Marr wrote and released a collection of songs – Beach In The Fallin’ Rain – which summed up his recent years to that point: nostalgic for lost youth, reflective, a little helpless, lost even.  In Matt’s own words, this album is the sequel to Beach…, and some of those questions about life and love have been answered.
Currency Of Souls retains Matt’s gift for a tune and turn of phrase whilst adding a musical maturity that reflects the passing years, nods to classic American songwriters and a camaraderie with his contemporaries.  Currency Of Souls is eclectic but always Matt Marr, influenced by others but perfected by him, personal yet accessible as he muses on the universal themes we all struggle to understand.

Matt Marr supporting Andy Burrows’ ARROWS @ The Luminaire, London 3rd March

Holy Cow! We’ll let Matt himself explain this gem away:

I will be opening for Andy Burrows’ new band ‘Arrows’ (ex-Razorlight drummer – wrote a little tune called America) it is his first public appearance ahead of the release of his new album recorded with Eliot James (Noah and The Whale, Bloc Party)
“One of NME’s Albums of 2010, the first fruits of Burrows’ solo labours”
Should be a great night!

Matt Marr’s ‘Beach In The Fallin’ Rain’ now available on iTunes and Amazon

Just a quick note to let you know that Matt’s first album on Honey Be is now available from the following reputable online stores: iTunes and Amazon UK.

It’d be great if you bought the album from one of these behemoths, of course, but if you’ve already got and love Beach In The Fallin’ Rain as much as we do, perhaps rate it favourably or even leave a lovely review for other sonic inquisitors?

In the meantime, we’re hard at work in Honey Be’s Midlands beehive, putting together the artwork for Matt’s new album Currency of Souls and co-ordinating our squadron of PR and new media foot soldiers to begin the assault of the ears of the world! Or something like that anyway…The album cover is a work of understated beauty, hopefully we will do the songs justice. We’re working to a post-Easter, early April release date and have put Different Shades of Blue up for a listen around the web on Soundcloud, Virb and also at thesixtyone.

Please spread the word, subscribe to our Feed for all the latest news and check back here soon, thanks for your support as ever!
